I often, throughout my seventeen years of life, have found how utterly confusing "just living" can be! I'm often told what I should be, what I should want, and who I should want without any consideration for who I am. And it is not much help that people tell others and characterize me without knowing my character nor having my consent to be characterized. It's always "Oh, she's that girl who plays blah blah blah" or "she's that girl who hooked up with blah blah blah" -- the cycle of gossip stripping women of the chance of individuality and autonomy. It can be incredibly viscous, pitting women against one another instead of threading us together in the praised "womanhood" or "sisterhood" we are urged to proclaim. And I don't know if you are, but I am absolutely, perpetually exhausted by all of this.

So, in reaction to this blade thin tightrope that is being woman, I've decided to set the record straight and urge others to do the same. This blog, to me, is a space to write my own narrative, discuss ideas that perplex me, tell stories that move me, and create a community where others can do the same. I would like to discern my own character for once instead of someone telling me who I am to be. And I welcome you to join me on this journey of self-discovery and individuality.
